Finance Ministry: National Wealth Fund falls to 13.6 tln rbl in Sep

MOSCOW, Oct 5 (PRIME) -- The National Wealth Fund decreased by 55.2 billion rubles in September to 13.648 trillion rubles, or 9.1% of gross domestic product (GDP) forecasted for 2023, as of October 1, and fell by U.S. $2.7 billion to $140.106 billion, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.

Of the sum, 4.1 billion euros, 279.8 billion Chinese yuan, 395.9 million rubles, and 508.265 tonnes of gold were accumulated on accounts in the central bank, and 657 billion rubles were deposited at state development corporation VEB.RF.

The fund’s 918.4 billion rubles and U.S. $1.9 billion were invested in the securities of Russian companies linked to self-financing infrastructure projects, and almost 329 billion rubles in the preferred shares of credit institutions. Also, 38.4 billion rubles were placed on deposits with Gazprombank in order to finance self-financing infrastructural projects.

The fund’s 2.9 trillion rubles were invested in the ordinary shares of top bank Sberbank, 97.9 billion rubles in the ordinary shares of flagship air carrier Aeroflot, 137 billion rubles in the ordinary shares of national housing development institution DOM.RF, and 467 billion rubles in the preferred shares of Russian Railways.

Besides, 58.3 billion rubles were invested in the shares of State Transport Leasing Company (STLC), 151.2 billion rubles into the ordinary shares of VTB Bank, 60 billion rubles in the bonds of internet company VK, and 167.5 billion rubles in the bonds of NLK-Finance.

The ministry said that the combined income from investment in the financial assets, excluding the money and metals on the central bank’s accounts, amounted to 343.4 billion rubles in 2023, an equivalent of $4.051 billion.
